I think it's either a kind of mushroom or a gourd of some sort...either way, it's interesting looking and I'm wondering how it tastes! (if of course, it's an edible thing)
I know that as a white summer squash. We have the green ones at the produce market. I think sometimes they are called Squash Early White Bush Scallop or White Pattypan.
